Design Performance-Based Assessments
Course Overview
Learn how to design quality performance-based assessments that showcase student learning authentically and support learners to tell their learning story through portfolios, exhibitions of learning, student-led conferences, and defenses of learning.
COURSE MODULES
Modules will include videos, lessons, reflection activities, checks for understanding, additional resources, and a performance task to apply what you learn.

Course Competencies
Assess skills and content
I design performance-based assessments to authentically assess skills and content.
Support learners telling their learning story
I facilitate the development of a Learner Portfolio: a curated collection of performance assessments from multiple subjects aligned to the Learner Profile, which shows evidence of growth and proficiency in those skills.
Enable authentic demonstrations of learning
I provide learners with opportunities to create public products and share their learning with an authentic public audience.
Course Enrollment
Enrollment includes:
- 1 year of access to the course in the Thinkific platform
- Access to an online community of learner-centered educators.
- Access to team members available to answer questions within 48 hours.
- Certificate of completion upon finishing course

Course Credit Options
MICRO-CREDENTIALS
Earn a Digital Promise micro-credential—a digital certification verifying your competence in a specific skill or set of skills.
CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS
Upon approval of your performance task receive 1.5 quarter units of post-baccalaureate, salary-scale applicable credit offered by UCSD.
