Design Thinking Course Overview

This course explores the process for liberatory design thinking through an immersive design thinking challenge. This course also explores resources and tools to build design thinking experiences with learners.

COURSE MODULES
Modules will include videos, lessons, reflection activities, checks for understanding, additional resources and a performance task to apply what you learn.

Introduction to Liberatory Design Thinking
Differentiate the elements of liberatory design thinking and how it is an important learner-centered strategy
Module 2
Empathize & Define
Empathize with learners and define their needs
Module 3
Inquire & Imagine
Brainstorm and imagine new possibilities with learners
Module 4
Prototype
Create a prototype solution for your design challenge
Module 5
Try, Notice & Reflect
Test and reflect on a design
Module 6
Create a Liberatory Design experience
Design and implement a liberatory design thinking experience and reflect on the practice

Course Enrollment

Enrollment includes:

  • 1 year of access to the course in the Thinkific platform
  • Access to an online community of learner-centered educators.
  • Access to team members available to answer questions within 48 hours.
  • Certificate of completion upon finishing course

Course Credit Options

CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS

Upon approval of your performance task receive 1.5 quarter units of post-baccalaureate, salary-scale applicable credit offered by UCSD.
