Foundations of Learner-Centered Learning Experiences for Leaders Course Overview

All learners deserve learning experiences that are personalized, authentic, competency-based, and equitable and inclusive, including educators. This course is designed for leaders to support educators in implementing learner-centered learning experiences. It will provide leaders with the tools they need to better understand what learner-centered learning experiences look like and to support educators in their shift through professional learning and coaching.

COURSE MODULES

Modules will include videos, lessons, reflection activities, checks for understanding, additional resources and a performance task to apply what you learn.

Module 1
Introduction to Learner-Centered Learning Experiences
Understand why learner-centered learning experiences are important for both students and educators
Module 2
Finding Learner-Centered Bright Spots
Conduct a bright spots walk to find personalized, authentic, competency-based, equitable and inclusive learning environments and practices in action
Module 3
Coaching Conversations
Support educators in reflecting on their practices, identifying growth areas, and developing more learner-centered environments and experiences
Module 4
Design Learner-Centered Professional Learning Experiences
Design learner-centered learning experiences for educators (e.g. faculty meetings, workshops, PLCs, Communities of Practice, etc.)
Module 5
Reflection
Reflect on your learning

Course Enrollment

Enrollment includes:

  • 1 year of access to the course in the Thinkific platform
  • Access to an online community of learner-centered educators.
  • Access to team members available to answer questions within 48 hours.
  • Certificate of completion upon finishing course

Course Credit Options

CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS

Upon approval of your performance task receive 1.5 quarter units of post-baccalaureate, salary-scale applicable credit offered by UCSD.
