Spark Collaboration Course Overview
How can we support effective and equitable collaboration where all students are engaged in learning and differences within groups are respected and celebrated? In this course we will explore this challenge. You will be provided with practical ideas to implement in your current practice right away as well as templates and plans to implement larger collaborative learning experiences.
COURSE MODULES
Modules will include videos, lessons, reflection activities, checks for understanding, additional resources and a performance task to apply what you learn.

Course Competencies

Develop collaboration skills
I design and facilitate learning experiences that foster students’ collaboration skills.

Promote peer feedback
I develop students’ abilities to collaborate with peers via strategies such as peer assessment.

Design for equitable collaboration
I design collaborative group work that engages and stretches each learner, allowing them to demonstrate desired learning outcomes.

Navigate group dynamics
I support students to navigate the challenges of collaboration.

Bryanna Hanson
Director of Learning Design
A former Spanish teacher, instructional coach, and technology implementation specialist, Bryanna is passionate about meaningful learning experiences and equitable assessment systems. Bryanna has elementary and secondary experience in the classroom and has worked with leaders and educators from a variety of school settings to develop competency-based assessment and personalized learning strategies. She has provided professional learning experiences to empower educators to implement learner-centered practices.
When not working on learner-centered transformation she is making loose leaf tea, going to barre class, traveling, and spending time with her family.

How the course works
- Learning experience includes videos, lessons, reflection activities, checks for understanding, additional resources, and optional performance tasks to apply what you learn and receive facilitator feedback.
- Flexibility to move through course at your own pace, jump ahead, or revisit past modules.
- Receive a certificate of completion upon finishing the course.

Credits
- Continuing education credits available, requires submission and approval of final performance task.
- Spark Collaboration is a 15-hour course (10 hour course + final performance task), equating to 1.5 quarter units / 1 semester unit of post-baccalaureate, salary-scale applicable credit offered by the University of California, San Diego.
