Frequently Asked Questions

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Micro-Credential Options

Credit Options

Continuing Education Units from University of California, San Diego (UCSD)

Single Course

You can earn 1.5 quarter credits from UCSD for each LCC Course (excluding Learner-Centered AI and the Book Study Courses).

$150 per course

  1. Enroll in the “Performance Task + 1.5 quarter credits from UCSD” version of your course or pathway
  2. Complete the performance task from the course and submit
  3. Document implementation of the performance task and submit evidence
  4. Once your performance task and evidence have been reviewed and approved, you will receive 1.5 quarter credits from UCSD

Pathway Bundles

You can receive a credential for the pathway if you submit for the CEU for all 3 courses within the pathway.

$450 for the pathway certification

  1. Enroll in the “Performance Task + 1.5 quarter credits from UCSD” version of your pathway (or individually enroll in all 3 courses’ performance task version)
  2. Complete the performance task and submit evidence of implementation for all 3 courses
  3. Once all of your performance tasks and evidence have been reviewed and approved, you will receive 4.5 quarter credits and certification from UCSD

Micro-Credentials from Digital Promise

You can earn a micro-credential (which is a digital badge certifying that you demonstrated evidence of a competency) for each of the 12 Learning Experience Pathway Courses (courses from the Authentic, Personalized, Competency-Based, Equitable & Inclusive Learning Pathways).

For now these are free!

  1. Go to Digital Promise’s Micro-Credential site and select Learner-Centered Collaborative for the issuing organization. Find your courses’ micro-credential and click “Apply”
  2. You will be prompted to create an account with Digital Promise
  3. Review the micro-credential requirements, which are very similar to the courses’ performance tasks, and submit your artifacts/evidence
  4. Once your submission is approved you will receive the micro-credential directly in the Digital Promise portal
  5. You will be able to download a shareable badge to share on social media or in email

These Courses are organized into 4 Pathways: Authentic, Personalized, Competency-Based, and Inclusive & Equitable Learning. You may choose to take an individual course, a series of courses across Pathways, or complete all 3 courses within a Pathway.
