Authentic Learning

When we focus on learners we can create authentic experiences that ignite curiosity, develop passion, and unleash genius.  Learner-centered practices including PBL, community-based learning, real-world problem-solving, experiential learning, work-based and place-based learning, student portfolios and exhibitions, maker spaces, and design-centered learning focus on how we learn.

While all of these practices are interconnected and critical, a full shift to learner-centered practices often happens over time, building upon what is already working. Learner-centered education puts learners at the center of their own education in order to create more purposeful, personalized, authentic, and competency-based experiences that help them develop skills and agency to learn, grow, and solve problems that matter to them and others.
