Andy McCranie has never broken a bone. Well, he’s never had a doctor bill for a broken bone, but one of his thumbs is just crooked enough that he can’t properly hold a bowling ball. He doesn’t bowl often, so it doesn’t come up. Most days, you’ll find him playing baseball and football with his kids, gardening with his wife, or puttering around Pittsburgh with his old hound dog, Walker. None of those things require full thumb mobility.
Andy spent several years in ecommerce before starting his career in education. He was a high school science teacher, a K-8 computer science teacher, and the technical director at a school in Charleston, SC before coming to LCC in 2020. He’s a certified biology and computer science teacher, holds a Master’s in Instructional Design, and still remembers every guitar chord from the poster that hung in his teenage bedroom.
Now on the operations team at LCC, he strives to be a steady presence in the midst of complexity, helping others make sense of challenges and navigate change through thoughtful, human-centered solutions. He loves that his work at LCC allows him to do exactly that—every day, in big and small ways.
