Communication Plan
Overview:
Finding ways to communicate the Framework for the Future (or Portrait of a Learner and Strategic Plan) after the initial launch is crucial for ongoing success. This includes ongoing transparent communication, storytelling that highlights the bright spots and feedback loops that center the voices of learners and continue to build relational trust amongst the community and the school system.
Communication strategies include social media, newsletters, letters from site leaders and teachers, email campaigns, community events, website updates, videos and more. By leveraging these different mediums, the system can ensure that all learners, educators, classified staff, families and community members understand and embody the Framework for the Future.

Listen to Learners & the Community

At Escondido Union School District, as they began the process of school redesign, each school hosted community and learner forums focused on listening to the input of the community about what was working and what they wanted and needed out of the school. This informed the creation of Frameworks for the Future for each school, a clear vision of redesign to create more learner-centered schools that center learners and respond to community needs.

Social Media Sharing

Questions to Consider:
- What is the messaging we want to share with the broader community about the learner-centered work we are doing?
- How can we share early and often about the process and the product?
- How can we elevate bright spots throughout the system, what is currently happening and new things teachers, students and leaders are trying out?
- What different communication channels and already existing routines can we leverage to get the word out? This could include video, social, website pages, newsletters, emails, events and meetings.
- How can we use these communications to create feedback loops and support the community in getting involved in the process?
