Framework for the Future

A Framework for the Future casts a vision for a system’s learner-centered transformation. It serves as a tool for building coherence and catalyzing change.

A Framework for the Future includes:

  • Mission, Vision, and Values: These guiding statements define the organization’s purpose and how all decisions will be made
  • Portrait of a Learner: Articulates the whole-learner outcomes and competencies that are essential for all learners to develop
  • Learning Model: Describes what learner-centered teaching and learning will look like to support learners in developing the Portrait outcomes and competencies
  • Blueprint: Outlines the strategic priorities and a 3-5 year plan for implementing learner-centered transformation

At Learner-Centered Collaborative, we support schools and districts to co-construct their Framework for the Future with a Guiding Coalition of learners, educators, leaders, and community members in order to best portray the values and aspirations for learners in their local context. This process of designing the Framework for the Future is a crucial step towards coherence and prompts powerful conversations about the purpose of education and what values a community holds. However, the work doesn’t stop at the publishing of a Framework. In fact, that is the beginning of a process that involves learning, designing, and communicating progress. If you’re interested in designing your Framework for the Future and/or working with us to bring it to life, we look forward to connecting with you.
